New strategic alliance in plastic card acceptance
Amsterdam – A new strategic cooperation between American Express and EMS card will give a large number of online retailers, hotels and restaurants the opportunity to accept the American Express card in the near future. EMS card, European Merchant Services will help to increase the number of acceptance points of American Express.
With this new strategic alliance the retail and hotel sector will attract a new group of powerful purchasing consumers. Research shows that American Express cardmembers spend more than customers who use other forms of payment.
Marc Dumotier (General Manager EMS card) and Paul Abbott (President Merchant Services Europe) who signed the contract are excited about the new cooperation: ’Now we are able to offer both the hotel and restaurant owner and the retailer a one stop shopping concept. This also applies to online shops in the Netherlands and abroad. Payments with Visa and Mastercard could already be processed, but from now on customers can also pay with their American Express card through our system. That opens doors for our customers to reach an important group of loyal and high spending customers.
According to Paul Paaschens, manager Strategic Alliances at American Express, this cooperation offers also advantages for the cardmember: ‘our main objective of this cooperation between American Express and EMS card is to maximize the amount of merchants in the Netherlands so our cardmembers can use their card in even more places in the future.
